This advanced adapter allows A-mount SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) and SAM (Smooth Autofocus Motor) lenses to be used with the latest E-mount camera bodies with full support for wide-area focal plane phase-detection AF, including subject-recognition features such as Real-time Eye AF (human and animal), Real-time Tracking and more. AF/AE tracking at up to 11 fps for SSM and SAM lenses

Used with the latest E-mount camera bodies, this advanced adapter makes A-mount SSM and SAM lenses compatible with the AF/AE tracking capability of E-mount bodies, even while shooting continuously at up to 11 fps. Refer to “Compatibility” below for information on compatible bodies and lenses.

Accurate AF and AF/AE tracking for SSM, SAM and motorless lenses

The LA-EA5 supports all A-mount lenses, including models such as the Sonnar T* 135 mm f/1.8 ZA and Planar T* 85 mm f/1.4 ZA that do not have internal motors. Full support is provided for focal plane phase-detection AF, Real-time Eye AF (human and animal), Real-time Tracking and continuous AF/AE tracking at up to 11 frames per second.
