Rode VideoMic Rycote Microphone
The RØDE VideoMic is a professional-grade 1/2” condenser shotgun microphone intended for consumer video cameras and personal audio recorders.
The integrated Rycote Lyre suspension perfectly isolates the capsule and the electronics of the VideoMic from the metal shoe and therefore from external physical factors which could degrade the quality of the recording by vibrations and hum. Made of a hard-wearing one-piece thermoplastic, the Lyre® Cradle provides superior acoustic suspension to traditional elastic suspensions because it won't wear out, sag or break.
The standard size hot shoe has a 3/8” thread for mounting on a mic stand or boom.
With a supercardioid polar pattern, the VideoMic focuses on the subject in front of the capsule and minimizes ambient noise from the side and rear.
In addition to a bandwidth of 40Hz~20kHz, it offers a switchable high-pass filter (80Hz) that cuts out low-frequency noise from air conditioning or traffic, for example. A PAD switch (–10dB or –20dB) is located in the battery compartment and allows recording of high level sources such as concerts or car races.
